Sustainability at Wovena
Cozy living and the unique feeling of being at home are inseparably linked with textiles. As curtains on windows, upholstery on furniture, or design elements on walls, they give spaces their individual, unmistakable character and reflect the personality of the people who live in them. This feeling doesn’t have to come at the cost of new resources. Wovena makes it possible to access high-quality interior textiles without producing new fabrics. Instead, we focus on exclusive materials from past collections that have often been stored for years — sometimes decades — awaiting disposal. By redistributing these fabrics, we not only free up valuable storage space but also prevent the destruction and incineration of unused textiles.
In doing so, we extend the life cycle of finely crafted materials and make them accessible to a wider audience through fair pricing.
Our Mission
For Wovena, circularity isn’t just an option or a strategy — it’s the core of who we are. The production of new textiles places a heavy burden on the environment, through immense water consumption and the release of microplastics from synthetic fibers. Discarded fabrics often end up in landfills or incineration plants, releasing large amounts of CO₂ and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
Most of these problems can be avoided by reusing and repurposing existing textiles. Interior fabrics are especially durable and of high quality — qualities that make them perfect for a second life. Or even a third. Wovena keeps these materials in circulation before they ever reach the waste stream, reducing not only textile waste but also the need for energy-intensive new production.
Our Approach
For us, sustainability begins with our everyday work and extends into every decision we make. We use only existing storage spaces. Our products remain where they already are until shipment, avoiding unnecessary packaging, transport, and duplicate storage. For shipping, we rely on environmentally responsible materials such as recycled cardboard and recyclable protective packaging, sealed with paper-based tape, to ensure products are delivered safely and with minimal environmental impact.
We work continuously with our partners to preserve classic fabrics with history — protecting them from decay and destruction. In doing so, we are fully aware of our responsibility. Only fabrics that meet the highest quality standards are selected and kept in circulation by Wovena. This allows us to guarantee all our customers products of exceptional quality — pieces that will continue to bring joy to homes and their residents for many years to come.
