Karni is defined by the interaction of two surface qualities: subtly lustrous satin and matte areas interlock to create a layered textile image. The fabric falls with a soft, contained drape, while its surface responds to light with changing nuances that unfold gradually.
The structure is created entirely through the weave. Square fields alternate in a measured rhythm, without seams or print — formed solely by the direction of the yarn. Some sections read horizontally, while the adjacent areas reveal a vertical texture. This shift introduces depth within the surface, with orientation itself becoming the source of contrast.
Depending on the light, these differing weave directions become more or less pronounced. The surface begins to resemble a sequence of textile façades — layer upon layer, evenly composed, each with its own alignment, each part of a larger whole.
In darker colourways, Karni develops a defined, graphic character with visual depth; in lighter tones, the structure appears softer and more expansive, almost like a finely modulated wall surface. A decorative fabric for interiors that value material expression — without ornament, without staging.
